Sorry about both the Jets and Giants losing, especially at the hands of the Cowboys. I hope the Jets use their early round draft pick to pick up Darnold or Rosen, that team needs a franchise QB. You also have to wonder if the clock is ticking on Bowles, he hasn't had a winning season yet. I guess the bright side is that the Patriots lost in a horrible fashion on Thursday night.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the Giants game! Personally, although it was surprising and disappointing, I don't think they played quite as badly as the score suggests. The defence looked competent - not superb, but not at all bad, and you have some excellent players in the likes of Landon Collins, etc. The O-line is weak, but Eli has shown in the past that he can manage behind a weak O-line so all is not lost, and you'll have OBJ back soon. It was a frustrating game. They didn't play up to their potential.
It feels like quite a strange first week in the NFL! The Bengals being held to zero, the Giants only managing a field goal, and the Patriots looking a bit lost and clumsy. Frustrating injuries too, for Allen Robinson and Danny Woodhead.
George: I bet you a milkshake on your FB page that my 'Boys would beat your Gints. You didn't accept it, but I will allow you to go double or nothing with me when we come to the Meadowlands. My guess is that Eli will be in traction by then because if the Cowboys can ring up 3 sacks on him, my oh my, he will be like a pinata at a 5 year old's birthday party.
Ah, come on. Give the Cowboys' D a little more credit than that. They might not have a superior pass-rushing beast, but I think our front seven is actually pretty solid, and will be even more solid once David Irving comes back. Show a little love!
And besides, a piñata at a five-year-old's party is actually pretty safe. Speaking from personal experience, grownup spectators standing around the piñata are actually in more danger. :-)
