Things have been kinda hectic in the medical transcription world. Every weekend for a month we've received desperate emails begging for help with gargantuan backlogs. Every weekend overtime has been approved and every weekend I've worked that overtime. Even worked two Mondays! My one day off a week. I am an overtime HUOOR ( Read more... )

stupid things i have done, rgis, craigslist, wii, ebay, medical transcription, i shouldn't be alive

Yay for wii! I got mine a month after it came out. It took two overnight camp-outs to finally get one. Urgh.

I don't know if you're planning to get many other games, but if you want something that's quirky and a lot of mindless fun, you should look into WarioWare - if you can find it somewhere for a good price.

Yes, definitely want recommendations. The only games I have right now are Sports (of course) and Resident Evil 4, which, like all the RE games I've ever played, I can't survive for longer than 15 minutes. And my patience ain't the greatest.

Also on the way is Link's Crossbow Training (hoping the "zapper" gun will make RE a little easier) and I see Sports Resort somewhere in our future. The good thing about buying Wii 3 years later is a lot of the games are now dirt cheap used : )

In terms of overall quality, my favorite games are Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy. If you're looking for something more substantial than the party type games, I definitely recommend Mario Galaxy cause it's fun and not too hard once you get the hang of the controls.
Mario Party 8 is a great party game, but I think you need multiple wiimotes (another good thing about WarioWare is that the multi-player only uses one wiimote, if you don't have more).
There's also a game called Elebits that should be really cheap now. It's a bit simple but utilizes the controls well and it's worth the cheap price.

There's also a lot of games available on the virtual console, so if you played games on past consoles you should try looking them up.

I've spent most of my free time reading reviews on Amazon for just about every game. Based on them I just ordered Twilight Princess yesterday. I thought sure I would get Okami until I read many, many complaints about the difficulty of the precise movements required and the frustration of losing hours of progress because of so few save points. Mario Galaxy looks fun. I love flying ( ... )

This is true. Or perhaps he did and was better at hiding it.

You're lucky! It took me months to find a decent offer for a Wii. Mine was a gift for someone else, which made it all the more frustrating (especially now that it's over and I've nothing to show for it except the occasional turn on the Wii Fit. Did that come with the console you bought?). I didn't have to go through the scary exchange though- I can't believe you went in to his place! Next time, you could try calling someone and keeping them on the phone until you decide the seller isn't a serial killer.

It's cute that you might be lonely but not lonely enough to drive across town. :)

See? That only underscores how hard they were to find. You had to resort to stealing someone else's intended gift?

I wonder if we could hook up online and play together? Oh wait. You don't even have internet access for emailing.

I'm considering creating a pair of Snarry Mii's. Does that make me ill?

Nope, no Fit. After realizing the plentiful supply of consoles that came cheaply without the Fit too I bought the Fit separately. I'm trying it out tonight for the first time.

Nah, the gift was for my mother. She gets these whims every once in a while, for a Wii or a keyboard (she's never played) or an iPod (she doesn't use) and we've all just got to indulge her. My step-dad and I made a deal: he'd buy the Wii and I'd buy the Wii Fit, because it was much more expensive last year.

LOL, now you're not going to believe me at all. We've not got a landline (or, rather, we've got one landline that hooks up to a computer upstairs and everyone else connects wirelessly. I guess. I'm not really sure how all that works) to hook the Wii up to. Is there a way to do it wirelessly? Because I'd be all over that.

I dunno - which one of you will play which character (assuming Tery's humoring you with this)? Or do you just enjoy seeing them cheer when you kick soccer balls or bat on your baseball team?

How do you like it?

I would add my recommendation to all those calling for Twilight Princess. Super Mario Galaxy for me was a bit of a slight let down as it was far too easy - I never felt that there was any REAL challenge (apart from a few instances where the difficulty appeared to be ratcheted up to EVIL...). I suppose it depends on what games you like. My personal favourite is Extreme Trucks (or somesuch silly title), which had so many mixed reviews that I almost didn't buy it. Then I saw it cheap as chips in the used section and gave it a bash and it's amazingly fun.

Oh, and any of the Lego games if you like your platformers cute, funny and nice and easy (the Star Wars ones are the best, I feel).

I'm really enjoying Twilight Princess. Since I'm not that experienced, the game strikes a nice balance between challenge and hand-holding so I don't come up against an obstacle that makes me so discouraged I never play again (I have a stack of games I've started and then abandoned because of such obstacles).

Change of topic: Have you seen the Watchmen movie yet? I really, really enjoyed it. Watch this space for a full analysis coming soon.
