Things have been kinda hectic in the medical transcription world. Every weekend for a month we've received desperate emails begging for help with gargantuan backlogs. Every weekend overtime has been approved and every weekend I've worked that overtime. Even worked two Mondays! My one day off a week. I am an overtime HUOOR ( Read more... )

I've spent most of my free time reading reviews on Amazon for just about every game. Based on them I just ordered Twilight Princess yesterday. I thought sure I would get Okami until I read many, many complaints about the difficulty of the precise movements required and the frustration of losing hours of progress because of so few save points. Mario Galaxy looks fun. I love flying : )

Elebits and WarioWare both got mixed reviews -- some loved it, some got bored too easily. The Elebits does look cheap enough that it might be a nice diversion withouth breaking the bank. I was also strongly considering Rayman Raving Rabbids (?), which most say is cute and funny, others complain is better for young kids.

The only thing holding me back from Sports Resort is the "motion plus" remote, which an hour into shopping I realized is only an attachment to the standard wiimote, and if I want to play with Tery I have to buy two of those AND another wiimote/nunchuk. Sneaky, Nintendo. That has to wait for another paycheck.

Mostly I'm glad that Rock Band: Beatles is no longer so out of reach (not being put out at all for PS2!!!!)

You also might want to check out ign.com. They do pretty good video reviews for all the major games that come out.
Have you ever played a Zelda game before? Twilight Princess is a lot like Ocarina of Time, which is my all-time favorite rpg game. It's long but the graphics are good and the physical sword-slashing action is really cool.

I enjoy the Rabbids games, although the puzzles/games can sometimes be quite difficult and frustrating.
I love WarioWare a lot, but it is one of those repetitive games. If you enjoy the tone and quirkiness of it, the gameplay can last you a long time. It's probably more expensive than a lot of the other old games because it's been pretty successful.

I'm planning on stealing a friend's PS3 guitar so I can play the Beatles Rockband on my system. Nothing is going to keep me from that.

Oooh, pretty icon : )

Hope you don't mind me bugging you about this. I've got this problem and all the forums I've found are full of people who have "modded" and hacked their machine so they're just finding ways of doing things that won't hurt their illegal tweaking.

Link's Crossbow Training arrived yesterday but won't load for me. I get an error message telling me to remove the disc and shut the machine down. Everyone online says the only fix is to send it in for repair ($80!) But every other game works fine, and Link's works on my neighbor's unit. They suggested a firmware update. Is it possible some games don't work without the proper update? Since I bought this console used it's way out of warranty and probably way out of date for firmware. I bought a LAN adapter so I can hook to the internet.

Help me, Wii Guru!

Wait, so have you hooked you Wii up to the internet yet? Cause if not, I'd definitely wait until you can make sure that your system has the latest updates. That can affect the function of some games. And don't worry, the updates aren't tied to the warranty. It's part of Nintendo's online system.

One of the most innovative yet frustrating aspects of the latest generation of consoles is the system update ability. They allow games and the system to be constantly improved and refined and much less buggy than in the past, but it also means that people who lack internet are at a big disadvantage, and not all their games are gonna work right. It's bittersweet.

I don't mind helping at all, but I'm no expert so I don't know how valuable my advice will be.

I haven't hooked it up yet, I'm waiting for the special adapter to use with my cable modem (no wireless internet here). It seems slightly retarded to me to fit the console with a memory card slot and then not make updates downloadable and transferable on a card, but whatev.

As far as I know Andre didn't have it hooked to the internet and his receipt is from 2007, so I'm fairly sure it's never ever been updated. You've given me a tiny ray of hope that this is the problem. If not I guess I'll just give the game to my neighbor, where it DOES work. >: ( At least it was cheap.

Thanks again for your patience with me. : )

Oh, and to answer your question, I've never played Zelda before. It sounds like just the ticket though. I like puzzle solving with a little fighting. Ocarina of Time is also remembered fondly by most reviewers on Amazon. : )
