I read the Rum Diaries once and hated it. It was overly pretentious and singularly unengaging. Though it was an admirable attempt at trying to emulate Ernest Hemingway. I've never read anything that he wrote, because Stacey made me watch Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas. Like you said, the only reason why the movie was any good was because it had Johnny Depp in it. But after seeing the movie I knew for sure that I never wanted to read anything he wrote. I just don't see what the big deal with him is either. I'm sure just saying all that will offend like, 12 billion people.
