I like this!

I think Voldemort had too much of a temper and his plan might have been a little too... straightforward? Compared to Grindelwald, he was less sneaky and more direct about how he wanted things, and he wanted to purge the world of Muggles rather than maybe ruling over them without them really realizing it, as you said.

Grindelwald was trying to bring in a new order, he wanted to rule muggles.

Voldemort's stated goal was to wipe out mudbloods and kill muggles, and in the process he killed off a lot of wizards, even the 'pureblooded' ones. In spite of the dates, 1945, I think it was definitely Voldemort who was the wizarding Hitler, not Grindelwald. Hitler's main thing was blame the Jews, destroy them - I felt that the expansion of the German empire during WWII was more about wiping undesirables off the earth, than any other constructive gains. Neither Voldemort nor Hitler can be good, they are the rare bad guys that are definitively bad because bad is built into their goals ( ... )
