Reposting this. Last entry had such a bad code I couldn't salvage it, I am crap at HTML codes and tables.
I just really love the use of light and background. LA is more than just a background, it seems like another character in the show and more than any show I've seen set in LA, this is the first time I've ever come to care for LA as a city, which is saying something.

The credits. I've some issues with how short credits have become and would give anything for a longer sequence but I love this title card. I'm glad they changed it from their old title card which was, to be honest, really crappy.

universe fun
Oh, this... this has just become one of the iconic scenes in Life.

I love this shot, with the car, Crews swaggering up to Mark's car and the buildings behind them. Someone once mentioned that one thing that set Life apart from the other shows is how they shoot the scene and the visual depth. This is one of the examples. It's not just cars and buildings, you really get the sense of the city right there.

is it?
Another iconic scene. The first time Reese and Crews have their first leaning on a car talk. I love that Crews helps Reese take a break from the case by bringing her outside and watch over the city. Just like Charlie I get the feeling Reese doesn't like being cooped up in a room for long, she also needs open spaces and fresh air.

city at night
LA at night, this shot is really gorgeous. Somehow because of this I associate night time with Reese just as I associate sunlight with Charlie.

umaga hunt
There it is again, depth, man.

a fence?
More than the 'Oh, Charlie...' factor I just love this scene with the sunlight and the fence. I love how the camera is almost always like it's looking in (jail cells, windows).

zennish
I'm really glad this show utilizes its surroundings, that Reese and Crews aren't just stuck in offices, morgues and the suspect/victims homes.
They go to taco stands, they park on streets, they sit on fountains. More than any other show this made LA more interesting to me because it's not just a background.
