Dedicated to my dearest frienemy, cranedance , who inflicted this book upon hobbitdragon as some form of demented joke for Christmas, without having read the thing in its entirety.  Darling, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.

I shall begin with a gentle overview of what passes for this abomination's cover. Vertically juxtaposed, a bald cartoon faces off with the ( Read more... )

MY GOD. THAT is a book I will be steering WELL clear of. Thanks muchly for the warning, O Grimm.
Incidentally, if Bob and Ob start showing up with more butt jokes than usual, I know where that came from. Don't worry, I expect it'll pass.

Oh believe me if it was I would have had words about it.

No, no it wasn't, but I still feel sorry for the poor bastard who had to do the cover.

I read the first chapter and a half, then skimmed. That was enough. I HAD YOU TO TELL ME ALL THE BEST BITS I MISSED, IT WAS PERFECT AND EPIC AND UTTERLY PAINLESS FOR ME.

I did not, in fact, buy it specifically to send to Dean. I bought it to enjoy myself in the privacy of my own library, as it seemed like the kind of book I would enjoy on its own merits. And indeed, it was most enjoyable.* But then I realized that it needed a wider audience; and there was Dean, who is a one-man stadium, and who has splendid friends who can transmit news of this wondrous book to the WORLD.

Is life not fabulous?

Yes, it's a series. IT IS A SERIES. THERE IS MORE TO ENJOY WHERE THAT CAME FROM.

* It helped to know when to stop.

Also, do you seriously believe that reading the whole thing would have made me rethink sending this book to Dean? Darling, you shame me. I would have sent it even earlier.

GIMME YOUR WORST, BABY, I CAN TAKE IT.

AND FRAME IT.

AND HANG IT IN MY LIVING ROOM AS AN ARTISTIC STATEMENT.
