Greetings, my fellow students. I would apologize for the recent absence of journal entries on my part but I don't presume anyone actually ever wants to hear any of my garrulous ramblings, and it seems likely that my notorious loquacity of late in your comments more than makes up for the lack of posts ( Read more... )

A good number of things, unfortunately - but over-elaborate and fraudulent affection is most definitely her specialty.

Perhaps you would be consoled by the remembrance that it is almost always like Halloween to muggles in the wizarding world - I doubt the holiday would make it any more appealing.

That Does Appear To Be A Very
Um
Interesting Cake
Can You Perhaps Describe It In A More Detailed Manner So We Can Fully Grasp The Extent Of Your Mothers Baking Skills

There isn't really much to describe, other than a several-tiered cake with the marzipan sculpture of a princess with tentacle arms and squid head.

She tends to buy pre-mixed potioning ingredients and customizes them as her baking skills are in actuality sub-par. I believe she is often far too intoxicated to know what she's really doing.

I See
Am I Correct To Assume That The Marzipan Sculpture Was Very Detailed And Somewhat Aesthetically Pleasing Or Would I Be Wrong For Thinking Such A Thing

How Unfortunate
Your Mothers Frequent Intoxication I Mean Not Her Apparent Lack Of Baking Skills

Indeed, it was expensive and well-crafted; I suspect she commissioned it from a well-known wizarding pastry chef, as she was capable of dancing on the cake's tiers before the spell wore off.

I got used to the intoxication, to be honest. It seems to be her default state and she functions in society regardless. I'm not sure if that's down to her skill or the general eccentricity of our community.

That doesn't seem particularly... edible. Is there a particular reason for such a design choice?

It is the matter of an ongoing war of passive aggression on the part of my mother. She once bought me a life-size pretty princess doll which I happened to customize with the head and arms of the Eldritch Gods.

She refuses to acknowledge the doll, but curiously, it surfaces in her confectionery goods every summer.

[........oh.]

You and your mother must have a very unique relationship.

[WHAT ELSE CAN YOU SAY TO THIS TOMFOOLERY?]

[THERE REALLY ISN'T MUCH TO SAY]

Unique is certainly one way of describing it, though I feel you're being far too kind with your adjectives.

You flatter me with your beautiful language, good sir - despite its meaning. Do you find my attempts to address you in your native tongue so reprehensible?

One should be proud of his heritage, especially one as old and persistent as yourself. After all, you got much left.

I suppose it has a few endearing qualities - though as a general rule, anything my mother appropriates into her cruel little ruses should automatically be rejected.

Don't worry, John. I wouldn't be that cruel. I will do my best to send you something else via owl post this summer.
