Who: Ram and YOU What: This parkour thing Rinzler and Anon keep doing looks like fun, so Ram decides to try it. Where: where you LEAST EXPECT IT. >3 Warnings: none kthx
Tron wasn't entirely sure what Ram was doing. At least, there didn't seem to be any emergency. Which meant he was exercising, or practicing something, with which Tron was happy to help.
He took off, chasing after Ram at first, eyeing the smaller program and the route he'd chosen, and then following him. And then pulling alongside him and grinning, waving a little. "Hi!"
"Hey there, Tron!" Ram flashed a cheerful grin back as he vaulted over a low wall, not surprised that his friend was easily keeping up. "Fancy meeting you up here!"
"Practice, my friend," smiled Ram. "How else am I going to keep up with you?~" He hooked a leg up over a railing, the better to slide down -- taking the steps at a run might be faster, but there'd also be a better chance of landing wrong.
Have a very confused User, Ram!leescarecrowJuly 11 2011, 03:18:24 UTC
Lee was lost. Very lost. Extremely lost.
He'd been trying to get to the Archives. He'd even gotten a map to guide him from a friendly program.
Unfortunately, no one had warned him that the map could be view-able from any angle. Including a few he was pretty sure were technically not physically possible.
Which is how Lee "Scarecrow" Stetson found himself lost and on the roof of a building, trying to get un-lost.
The program who vaulted over a gap between rooftops, rolling easily to his feet and stopping short at discovering the place to be occupied, wasn't one who'd met this particular User before.
He'd have known that face anywhere, though.
Staring in astonishment, he blurted, "Alan-One?"
[[Despite most of his icons, he's all Legacied up in this sandbox, jsyk. ^^]]
Lee turned to face the new arrival on the roof, hand instinctively twitching towards his missing shoulder holster before his mind caught up.
"Sorry, no. Alan's my identical twin brother. Does everyone know who my brother is?" He offered the program a hand, both for introduction and assistance upright, "I'm Lee Stetson. Who might you be?"
[OOC: I know. :D I was lurking and reading here before I app'ed Lee.]
"Oh, sorry!" Ram stammered. "Not everybody, but most people--" meaning programs -- "know Tron around here. The whole city's named after him."
He hadn't realized that Users who weren't actually duplicates could be identical. So many questions.~ For now, though, he wanted to let this User know that there wasn't anything to fear from him -- that twitch at his side could easily have been an instinctive reach for a baton to defend himself with, so the body language translated perfectly.
"I'm Ram," he said, smiling as he shook Lee's hand firmly. "Actuarial program. I used to know Tron back when he was with ENCOM, so that's how I know who his User is."
It wasn't strange as far as Quorra was concerned, really, it was perfectly normal in her opinion, but that was because she usually took the roofs-and-railings path, it was her favorite.
Which is why it should be no surprise that their paths crossed somewhere partway up a building, over thataway. Quorra pulled up short, taking a half step back in surprise when he appeared around the corner, "Oh!" She laughed a moment later, "Hello, don't usually see anyone else up here."
(ooc: yay fluff! He gets a gleeful!Quorra, and OMU I can't believe they haven't met yet!)
It wasn't as though Ram didn't usually trot where he could have walked, or run where he could have jogged; even his saunter normally had an upbeat feel to it.~ But he'd never taken to the roofs-and-railings routes quite this exclusively before. He was definitely beginning to see what his friends saw in it.
Snagging a rail to stop himself, he smiled back. "Hi! I'm just trying something new. D'you come up here a lot?"
[[HI!~~ Gleeful!Quorra is the best Quorra.<3 I... somehow have a feeling they did meet? At the Sea? But they can definitely meet again. XDDDD]]
There was a laugh then, nodding, "As often as I can. It's how I usually get to the park, unless it's raining, too slippery when it's raining." She pointed, indicating the path she usually took, it was mostly-clear from where they were, and mostly-visible, "Old habit, avoiding the walkways."
(ooc: Oh, man, they did, a jabillionty years ago! In that case it's a shame and a pity that they haven't met again! But they can now!)
"Ohhhh." Ram looked out over her route, automatically calculating the vectors and convergences. "That does look like a good way! I can see how it'd be good if you wanted to avoid attention."
She'd had plenty of reason to avoid attention, if one believed the stories.
He tilted his head. "You must be pretty good at it by now."
[[Trufax; I kept meaning to tag her welcome-back-to-the-Grid post. Still might after it gets less crazy around here. :) And yes, they can!]]
Tron didn't expect to find Ram doing some strange activity. It looked like he was trying to exercise his muscles or perhaps he was trying to perform some moves for the games. He walked up to Ram with the strange look still all over his face.
'Ram? Can I ask what is that you are doing? It seems a bit beyond me,' he let out a small curious smile at his friend.
It was to be hoped that Tron had walked up to where Ram was going to be when he got there, because otherwise, he'd already have gone. :3
"Hi, Tron!" he said brightly, landing from a jump over a narrow gap between buildings and bouncing lightly to his feet. "I'm practicing getting across the city more efficiently!"
'So I can see,' he let out a soft laugh. 'How is jumping about like that helping? Is it about positioning your feet at the correct moment or the memento between jumps?,' he looked at his friend and smirked. 'Should I have a go or is it beyond a security program like me?,' he put an arm around the younger program.
"You should know," Ram grinned. "I learned it from one of you." He wrapped his own arm around Tron's back and drew him over to the edge of the building. "See, it's about taking the shortest route between two points, no matter how complicated it is. You'd probably be good at it!"
Clu just stood and watched the program perform strange actions with his body. Why was he doing this? Didn't he have allocated sections and tasks to perform? This wasn't very efficient at all. Unless, this was the program's recreation time. He just watched and placed his hands behind his back as he focused his attention on studying this program. Had he seen him before? He looked.....similar. He was from the old Encom system but how? Clu frowned before walking closer to the program.
'Greetings. Having fun are we?,' he smiled slyly underneath his closed helmet.
Now that was a helmet and circuit color that everyone who'd been on the Grid for the last thousand cycles could immediately recognize, and for anyone who had any doubt, there was the voice too -- one that Ram had more reason to know than most.
Ram took a few steps back, swallowing a spike of fear. Clu had been deposed, he wasn't in charge anymore, but he still might be dangerous.
"Yeah, actually," he said boldly. They were all free programs now, and Clu had no right to intimidate him.
[[Just to be clear, the only sign of Ram's Encom origin is the little partial helmet/headband he wears -- he's all Legacied up in this universe, even though his icons often don't reflect it. ^^]]
Clu could sense the program's fear and felt a little swell of his ego. He liked intimidating other programs, beneath himself. This one seemed young and naive. He decided to play nice though first. He was intruding after all.
'What is this game you are playing, program? It seems unknown to me. Some kind of exercise for the Game Arena perhaps?,' he took a few steps closer to the program, studying him closely. He looked from the new system but had vague traces of the old Encom system about him. The headband he wore bore no resemblance to any program he'd met before.
[[Sure, man. Clu's just being a big-headed idiot at the moment. Don't mind him XD]]
Ram might have seemed young, but he'd lost most of his naivety during the thousand cycles of madness caused by the program now standing in front of him. (One version of him, anyway.) Right now, he knew that the best way to stay safe was to go somewhere else.
"Not really," he shrugged. "It's about getting around the Grid faster." He didn't like the way Clu was stalking toward him, but didn't want to show fear. He knew where the exit was -- he'd looked for it before jumping down onto this ledge.
[[woot! as long as Ram gets away without getting hurt. XD]]
