[fic] 30 Angsty Words [Chrno Crusade]: 9
Jacking hime1999's translation of the 30 Angsty Words. She did them using Roy/Ed of FMA, so check it out if you're interested.
I'm not going to use any particular fandom and/or pairing to do these. I'm going to try very hard to avoid using FMA and these will probably end up primarily Berserk. I think I'm going to approach writing Berserk the way I did FMA, using themes to anchor myself around a concrete idea and thus ease myself into getting into the characters.
But we'll start off with Chrno Crusade because I read volume 6 at my local Borders the other day. *fangirly sigh*
9 砂時計 (Hourglass)
No one knows what it means to race against time better than Rosette Christopher. Her life dangles from her neck. It doesn’t weigh much, really. In fact, it’s surprisingly light, her life. She can hold it in the palm of her hand, watch the seconds of it pass by, hear every breath, experience, and memory marked by the feeble ticking.
tic. tic. tic.
And one day it will stop. One day too soon. One day before she’s ready for it.
That’s what she’s afraid of.
But she doesn’t regret what she’s done.
She’s studied the way her time is measured out, how the minute and the hour hands march towards each other and past each other and notices how at exactly midnight they meet in perfect synchronicity. His life. Her life.
Their lives.
So many lives.
Intertwining with hers, taking from her, giving to her.
So much time and she doesn’t have enough to give.
So she’s going to give it all to him. To them. To both of them. And maybe they will find a way to stretch one life to fill three and all the missing years in between. Maybe they will find the way to slow the trickle of time.
