Fandom: Birds of Prey
Characters: Dinah Lance, Helena Bertinelli (Huntress), Oracle
Words: 247
Notes: I... wasn't going to bother posting this. >_>; There's something... off... about the wording and I am compelled to make changes every time I look at it. And MSWord was really upset at me for using an adjective when I should have used an adverb. =(

The Birds of Prey was a well-balanced team.

Dinah was sunlight and laughter, scented with the heady aroma of flowers and blushing with the charm of a romantic. She made promises with coquettish smiles and mischievous eyes over dinner, deliciously inviting in her jeans, sandals and generously cut shirts, bright and confident and so heart-achingly open.

Dinah came to Helena without masks, wanted her without masks, touched her bare face with callused fingers that were conscientiously gentle. As if she might harm her with a moment’s carelessness. As if she could hurt her.

But this was Dinah, with a heart almost big enough to encompass the world, and she made Helena feel so good.

Oracle was impassive eyes behind reflective glasses, expression carefully neutral, lips hinting at a smirk or a frown or the complete disinterest of one completely in control. She issued commands in flat tones and frank expectations, untouchable in the careful confines of her chair, the emotional wall of her enforced independence, frustrating and challenging and so maddeningly irresistible.

Oracle came to Huntress with understanding, wanted to show she understood, traced the outlines of her mask with the knowledge of the thrill and anonymity of putting on a cowl. As if she might strip her at any moment. As if she could unmask her.

And this was Oracle, with a mind almost vast enough to conquer the world, and she made Huntress ache so bad.

The Birds were a very well-balanced balanced team.
