Nice read, thank you for posting it. The article did make me feel a bit sorry for Isaiah. I mean, it did seem like he was genuinely trying to repair the damage he caused, only to discover that it was too little too late.

I did everything that the producers and the network asked me to do.

And that, right there, would be why he was still fired. He didn't learn anything, he just went through the motions to get his job back.

I hope that everyone is happy for the outcome for Isaiah, but Isaiah will go on and do what I love to do.

Ugh. He's such an arrogant asshole.

I just hope people can understand in the industry and otherwise that it's a horrible misunderstanding what transpired with our show and it was blown out of proportion.

I don't see any misunderstanding here. He called T.R. a really hateful name. Twice. What's there to misunderstand?

I think the thing that really overjoys me about him getting fired for this is the fact that the Gay population, thanks to our bigot of a President, is so openly descriminated against now that it's nice to see them actually win for once. It's nice to see someone stand up and say, "No, this kind of bigotry is NOT going to be tolerated by us, whatever the rest of the country is doing." So even though it took way ( ... )

I don't think they did it because THEY felt that "bigotry is NOT going to be tolerated", but because of the pressures of other people. If it were truly the statement of the writers and the company behind it- they wouldn't have made him jump through hoops just to fire him. They were trying to see if they could salvage his credibility to the viewers, but apparently there are viewers that choose to hold on to the negative ugliness instead of embracing the positive that could come from it. There was an opportunity for the producers, writers, cast, and crew to show that they can come together and move past it, and heal from it. Just keep in mind while gloating that it wasn't a statement against bigotry as much as it was about saving face to viewers that bitched and moaned and couldn't get past it.

Maybe people shouldn't get past it.

i do think its kind of crap to fire him now. i understand he fucked up and i don't agree with his actions in any way. but he jumped through every hoop and created some of his own to jump through to prove his commitment. it makes sense to drop him now so his story arc is finished but it feels like a kick in the face because what else can he really do to repair the damage? psa, apologies, 'rehab'. i respect him for going through the steps. i don't know if it made a difference but it just seems wrong to fire him now.

I feel bad for him and I'm going to miss the character of Burke. :(

What he did was wrong and all. But don't make the man jump through hoops and then fire him.
