I now have five of the little pewter Lovecraft pins one receives for World Fantasy Award nominations. Three unexpectedly came in the mail yesterday, and near as I can tell they're for my two 2006 nominations (To Charles Fort, With Love and "La Peau Verte") and my 2012 nomination (Two Worlds and In Between: The Best of Caitlin R. Kiernan, Volume 1

Have them battle each other for the right to be worn. It would be cool if you could collect 16 and use them as pawns in a chess set. You could leave them all the same colour like Yoko Ono's concept of the one colour chess set. That might be appropriately maddening.

My theory was that they believed Moonstone was remote enough that no one would notice all the pot smoke. Problem is, they're wrong. yesterday, while we were there, at least a dozen other people showed up...some of whom were visibly annoyed at the ass-clown shenanigans. Also, they were drinking Bud and Schlitz, and anyone whose taste in beer is that bad...

I've yet to swim in the ocean here in LA, ever. It's simply too cold in the water, although one of these days perhaps I'll have money for a wetsuit so I can get in.

Good days at the beach are a bonus, regardless of the other asshats around you.

I chose to interpret this statement as: brilliant despite a sad lack of worldwide appreciation for said brilliance (though your merry mad band of followers are always ready for the trek).
