"In the darkest part of you that you have ever seen."

Decently warmish here in Providence. Currently 79˚F. My window is open, but I'm glad I don't have to venture out into the world today, because there's not a cloud in the sky, not a hint of haze. Just hunger.

Yesterday, we traveled to parts south. To malls. Yeah, shudder. But, to my amazement, I found the clothes I was looking for (thank you to all ( Read more... )

I wouldn't say the books were worse than the show - the books are plotted as stand alone Mystery Novel's with a wide series arc, using the Shifter/vampire/werewolf motif. They have more in common with whodunits than Alan Balls ingenious take on the series. I don't know if you heard how he picked up the books for the series but according to an interview he grabbed something to read off the rack at the airport and it blew him away. He bought the rights shortly after touching down and the rest is history. Maybe he'll grab Blood Oranges next.

I think Ball has now left True Blood and moved onto the new show Banshee, so I'm curious to see how the next season shapes up under the new showrunner, whose background seems largely to consist of That '70s Show and Nurse Jackie.

When you wrote "surprised" in regard to your opinion of the show I thought, "Aunt Beast is a fangbanger!" (Okay just teasing, please don't eat me.) But I agree with you that it is great fun; I am still on Team Bill but I appreciate the seductive appeal of Eric.
And Lafayette is my favorite character, I feel like it was a true collaborative effort between Alan and Nelsan in regards to realizing both the humanity and symbolic values of the character so fully.

I've read some of the books in the Sookie Stackhouse series, and I had a great time reading them. Charlaine Harris has another series of 4 books, the Harper Connelly series, about a woman who can feel dead bodies under the earth. It's pretty good, too. Hey, they keep me reading, which isn't easy these days!

I have to watch True Blood when it premieres next Sunday. Looking forward to it!

Every time I see "seersucker suit" I think "cocksucker suit", and then I giggle like a child. This is, if I remember correctly, Billy Martin's fault. (I still have no idea what a seersucker suit actually IS. Hello, Google.)
