Spooky's going down to visit her parents today. Her brother and sister and law are visiting (from Bozeman, Montana), and she hasn't seen them in a while. Me, I'm going to spend the day writing. Likely trying to add those new scenes to Black Helicopters. Not the interview, as I'm feeling anxious and low, and the last thing I need is the purposeful ( Read more... )

Your thoughts on the OB are pretty dead on, but I spent all of today napping and seem to have left my brains in bed, so I have nothing lucid to add.

I like Savages, moreso now than when I saw it. The colors were saturated in that tropical paradise, Sexy Beast kinda way.

Moral Panic FTW!

The movie Savages was adapted from a novel by Don Winslow. I've read everything by him and love it, if anyone disagrees, fuck you! In a happy holidays way, not quite as bitter as usual! Full-on Noir. Nasty business...
I too am a rock scrambler- not full-on pitons and such- hands and feet- I'm sorry your feet no longer comply. Colorado and I had many adventures together, hiking, climbing, 4-wheeling. My best friend was a dyke with a Jeep Wrangler and toss in a little beer, weed, and a Rotteiller/Collie mix and we would just go, we'd end up looking down- DOWN- at the Rocky Mountains, from some 19th century miners claim. I've seen a thunderstorm from ABOVE.
Happy vacation and merry birth of a made up guy who lives in the sky and has a beard and hoards virgins for you to defile if you die while killing in his name! Yay!
Repeat- you MUST own Dinosaur Art, The World's Greatest Paleoart, edited by Steve White. 34.95, I found it half-price on Amazon.com. Spectacular.

We shouldn't junk all art, but I don't think people get a pass for "that's just how it was back in the day". It was meant as oppression then too, and being unopposed in popular culture is hardly an excuse.

I do think there's got to be a line drawn somewhere between blackface minstrel shows and vapid vampire-lit (in which everybody is white, straight, cis and a perfect 10) that cuts off art that's too tainted to touch outside of a history class.
