Just a quick writing pointer before we settle into the entry proper. I never give writing advice, mostly because I'm fairly certain it's impossible to codify a list of "rules," of dos and don'ts, that has any sort of objective meaning. Oh, and because people ask for writing advice (and I say no, so they wheedle and whine until I give in), then have ( Read more... )

"Mountain That Walked" is very good; got a great creeping pace to it. It kind of reminds of "Wendigo" a bit: I think it's that whole thing of men round a campfire: should be a cosy place: ending up being besieged by things they can never understand. And nothing's ever overstated (which is a damn good argument against exposition. I am struggling with infodump right now, so I appreciate the advice).

It's a good photo. I need to watch that "making of".

I agree with the exposition thing, even when writing non-fiction.

With non-fiction...well...hmmm....

Also, it just re-occurred to me how much I like your writing voice (maybe it's just your voice-voice but who knows?) on this journal.

It's pretty much my voice-voice, with a lot less profanity.

Re: Alabaster: Wolves. Checked with my comic store today, and they have my pre-order. During the conversation the clerk mentioned that the floppies had sold well, so they were ordering a number of the hardcovers in addition to my pre-order.

I haven't had a chance to read Sirenia yet. It's on the list of things-to-do-soonest.
