"And I want to know my fate, if I keep up this way." (II)

This morning, I think Francis Ford Coppola (back in his Apocalypse Now phase), Lars von Trier, and David Lynch teamed up to direct the "nightmare." Come to think of it, those three are the likely culprits for most of my dreams. Anyway, yeah, bad morning. Dreamsickness. I thought, an hour ago, I would sit down here and write out as much of the dream ( Read more... )

I don't know if you've played WoW in the last week or so, but I'm not sure how I'm feeling about the new changes pre-expansion.

They've once again retooled the talents, which wasn't so bad. What really annoyed me was that they took out the ability to quickly switch between melee and ranged combat. So I'm stuck with hunters who only shoot, unless you stop mid-encounter to equip a blade.

I suppose one could set up a macro but I've never been reliant on those and I don't know if that would even be something you could do with a macro.

That said, I'm sure the new expansion will keep my attention for about as long as all the previous ones did.

I expected that.

I've always avoided macros.

Yup.

First, thank you for introducing me to this game, I am loving everything about it so far.

Fuck, I can't remember the name. But two words. Anyway, I'm moving tonight, and Spooky hasn't created a toon yet. I'll post the server tomorrow, along with names.

Also, YA fiction is so amazing -- read Daughter of Smoke and Bone -- that not having a Hugo for it is criminal. True.

Yup!

Apropos of nothing (are any of my comments ever apropos of anything?), here's a nice New Yorker piece on the making of Cloud Atlas. It may give you a new respect for Tom Hanks:

Hanks was in the middle of reading “Moby-Dick” and, when the filmmakers sat down, he engaged them in a discussion of Melville’s masterpiece. Lana pointed at a poster for “2001: A Space Odyssey,” which was serendipitously hanging on the wall of Hanks’s office, and said, “ ‘Moby-Dick’ and this-that’s what we want to do.” “I’m in,” Hanks said. “When do we start?”

Thank you for turning me on to Shadow of the Colossus. I found the game years ago (per your recommendation) and played it until I thought my thumbs would break. I was happy to make it to the end of the game, but also sad that it was over. Definitely the Best. Game. Ever.

It's incredible. Also, Iko, by the same company. There's supposed to be a third game, The Last Guardian, but its been in development forever (there's a trailer inn YouTube), and I begin to despair of its ever being released.
