Howard Hughes vs. the Mystery Crud

Apr 16, 2012 14:58

Spooky and I appear to have contracted some vile virus or bacterium, apparently at the Bellingham signing on Saturday. It hit me on Saturday night, and I spent most of Sunday on the chaise in the middle parlor. It hit Spooky yesterday, and we were both pretty miserable last night, and the misery lingers into today. Mostly aches, low fever, chills, ( Read more... )

Shit. Fingers crossed for NYC.

If it's any use, Alabaster:Wolves is bowtie. I love that dark-green colour scheme. Some of it is really funny ("Your grammar is atrocious" is a fabulous line, and I hope we see more of the unhelpful blackbird). The art does you justice; and Dancy surprised me. The angel looks terrifying. Oh yeah, and I like that dig at e-books. The trilobite specs are bowtie too - it took me a while to spot those, and I want some...

As someone who has read the first issue of hundreds of comics, an unusual challenge is creating some sort of origin myth for a character who already has a substantial amount of backstory.

[I know this is a "new" Dancy, to some degree--but it's still tricky to do an initiating event and also slip enough in to introduce a past, present, and future...]

Plenty of otherwise talented writers fall apart when they have to balance a new comic about an old character, especially one who is also new to comics. I guess the circumlocution would be "relaunching a new character." How do you start over with someone who doesn't exist?

To be able to do that with only three or four characters in a closed environment without everyone sounding like they're care-full-y overexplaining everything? Only CRK. Such a great start!

Nicely done, Caitlin; nicely explained, readingthedark. I'm looking forward to this ride through this story.

Hope that you and Spooky feel better and are able to go, and arent communicable on a microbial level.

Sounds like the crud I had a month ago or so, not fun. Hope you bounce back soon.

I have a friend just getting over strep throat, hopefully you don't have anything that bad.

Given your earlier stance on not apologizing I'm surprised you'd care about a bad review. At the very least yes the positive does far outweigh the negative.
