No, Virginia. There are no naturally occurring tigers in South America.

Slept halfway decently last night, but, still, I'm not awake this early, early afternoon (it's only just eight past noon for those of us on CaST). And the bitter cold lingers, 30F (feels like 21F), and likely will...maybe until spring, which comes in late June. I'm wearing too many clothes, which is never pleasant ( Read more... )

It was all ravens, Scottish witches, and pretend sea monsters.

I am so looking forward to this book! If I wasn't already a sure thing (which I am), that sentence would've pushed me over the edge.

What Angela Carter are you reading? Stories from any particular collection? I recently read three of her takes on Little Red Riding Hood, and enjoyed them immensely.

Selections from Burning Your Boats, for the fiftieth time or so.

For my part, I haven't been commenting because I'm having trouble reconciling myself to the fact that I turn 40 the day after Christmas, and still haven't done anything of professional significance. Been debilitatingly depressed for weeks, even though I know I should be working to beat the clock.

You'll scoff, but at 46, I feel pretty much the same.

Actually, I suspect that's what worries me the most. I got through the first forty years pretty much promising myself I'd more or less have things sorted out by now. Not like 'Perfect Life' or anything like that. Just 'comfortable in my own skin', you know what I mean?

Yes, I do. And I'm not that at all.

Twin Peaks was great fun. It takes a while for the plot threads to develop, but it gets quite addictive after a while.

I originally got introduced to it by friends in college, then got my mother hooked on it on my next visit home. My mother is normally a gentle soul who doesn’t go for horror, so when she then introduced her boyfriend to the show, starting with the rather violent first season finale episode, he was rather shocked at her enthusiasm.

Twin Peaks was great fun.

It's interesting to see Kyle MacLachlan in a somewhat comic role.

Yes, well, that sounds like something I have no interest in . . .

(Of course, my interest does not matter to Imp. I'm okay with that. It shouldn't matter to her if I weren't, either.)
