All the meds on earth cannot insulate against the inevitable black moods, bad days, slumps, funks- not even when those meds are working. Not when those moods spring from rational thought processes and informed perspectives. I still recall when I was much more guarded about what I said here ( Read more... )

Most of my life, I've tended to respond with hostility to direct attempts to "cheer me up." This only gets worse as the years go by.

Don't know if it will comfort you any, but Lucius S is tearing his hair out over his story for me, too.

Lucius gave me permission to post it here:

"Have you ever been just rocking along on a story, cruising, everything flowing, when of a sudden you realize you've done something so fundamentally stupid that instead of having a potentially prize winning novella on your hands, you have approximately 11,000 words of unadulterated garbage? And did you then waste sever...al hours wondering if you did this or maybe that, then no one would notice?"
