ScheherazOdd keeps on keeping on.

I actually had every intention of there being a Part Two to yesterday's entry, "Halloween the 2nd: Part One." But then I was struck with one of my very rare but excruciating migraines, and many things fell by the way side. Not everything, though, because I get no sick days until March, I think. Too many tales to be told. Too many deadlines to meet ( Read more... )

'Also, I've learned from Bill Schafer at subpress that Alabaster is doing better, saleswise, that any of my previous subpress books. Since almost all of my subpress books have sold out, I assume this means Alabaster is selling out even faster.'

This, of course, is because the CRK Street Team is going door-to-door terrorizing people:

'BUY ALABASTER NOW OR WE KILL YOU.'
'OKAY OKAY I BUY BOOK.'

We make quite an intimidating group of thugs. grandmofhelsing levels them with sarcasm. mellawyrden has her lethal Withering Sneer. setsuled draws compromising pictures of our targets making big sex with small robot ostriches. And I just fuckin' strangle people (see my icon).

I considered, yesterday afternoon, changing the title to Scheherazade Redux...

Well, ScheherazOdd might be a title for the highly-encouraged third collection. That is, of course, assuming that this exercise isn't becoming tiresome.

Spooky and I have a sort of game we've developed to help me find ideas for the vignettes....Last night, I asked her for a word, and she gave me mummification, which was one I'd not yet done. So, thank you Spooky

Kudos, Spooky! This means I'll have to buy the limited edition of TftWP. Actually, since we're theoretically getting closer to a pre-order date, can you remind us which selections from the Sirenia Digest are going to be reprinted?

I've learned from Bill Schafer at subpress that Alabaster is doing better, saleswise, that any of my previous subpress books.

Does anybody know if it is more significant to a publisher to sell fast or sell more? I would have thought the latter, but...

i thought you might get a bit of a kick out of this link to the first segment from tonight's NOVA program about the asteroid Apophis. it will make an extremely close pass by earth (10 times closer than the moon) in 2029. if it should happen to pass within an area they're calling the Key Hole Apophis will strike the earth in 2036. good news for IOFS? (i hope those are the correct initials, if not i'm sorry.)

The October issue of Locus has a beautiful full page ad for Alabaster that just grabs your attention - Subterranean did a great job. And Locus displays the cover at the top of the Books Received-August listing and it features Alabaster in the New & Notable section.

This is so wonderful...

Wow, I wonder if that's available as a full-page scan. I for one would love to see it.

As for Alabaster, I managed to order a limited edition, so that's certainly something to look forward to (and be thankful for).

Also, despite having had a shamefully unread copy of House of Leaves for some time now, I couldn't resist picking up a copy of "The Remastered Full-Color Edition." To get over consumer guilt, I resolve to read it over the semestral break.
