There were gulls, of course, and cormorants. Sailboats everywhere. We made it back home by six.

That sounds lovely. We were supposed to visit the sea today, but instead it's raining. At least it's cooler.

Back home, I watched The Magnificent Ambersons (1941), which I'd not seen since my twenties. It's as heartbreaking as ever, that butchered film, knowing what it was before Robert Wise and RKO cut fifty minutes from it.

Yeah, I heard that some of the lucky few who saw Welles' cut said it was better than Citizen Kane. Of all the times Welles was fucked over that was probably the worst, for him and for all of us. The fact that it was destroyed, too, seems unlikely to have been the accident they claimed it was. The few elements that remain of Welles' work are so wonderful to look at. And the interior of the house provided a nice set for Cat People.

Very nice pictures.

You might want to check out a French science fiction movie titled "Immortel ad vitam" (yes that is the correct spelling). It is a visually strange and interesting movie with an excellent sense of atmosphere, though not entirely successful as a story. I would be interested to see what you think. You can watch it for free youtube.
