It would be very difficult to explain yesterday, so I shall not try. A small description will have to suffice. The trees begin to close in about the highway, and I can almost pretend I am back in Alabama.

This made me seek out images of trees in Alabama.

The Oaks are...well, I can't quite find the 'right' word. The hue of the moss on the trunks is so vivid, but black & white photographs are just as monstrously beautiful. I am currently enthralled with Ebenezer Swamp.

Magnolias and live oaks are something I dearly miss, the ancient live oaks that seems to be the pillars of Heaven.

There is some dim solace in film.

For me it's more than dim, I get really anxious if I go too long without a movie. There are other ways to get away from oneself but movies fill the void in a particularly satisfying way. Books, too.

It used to work a lot better for me. And books simply don't work at all for me now, ironically. being an author destroyed my ability to lose myself in books.
