"Wave goodbye. Wish me well. I've become something else. It's just the world."

We heard the news about Lou Reed last night. It may be awhile before that feels real. As I said this morning on Facebook, one of the things I've always missed most about the demise of Death's Little Sister was singing our cover of "Sweet Jane." Between Lou Reed's death and your photos I'm homesick in a way that never happens. Generally I miss some of the people but not the place; right now I'd love to be watching the sunset on a blustery beach followed by an evening drinking with random freaks at a dive bar and then dancing til dawn at whtever club hasn't been torn down or gentrified. But the places of my youth are gone, and that reality would probably make me angry. I miss people and things that will never recur.

I'm sixty-three, something I mention to put Lou Reeds passing in perspective. I purchased The Banana album by the Velvet Underground when I was 16 (though I might have been younger or a little older) I wore the album out, in three weeks, and had to buy another copy.

Other than the beautiful ceramic octopus cup I bought from one of the pottery vendors

Nice.

There was the most remarkable sunset. It was truly like seeing an atomic explosion.

Yes, great photos.
