Well's look'n kind of low right now

I'm in such a creative slump that it's not only frustrating, it's starting to worry me. Since August I've only completed two pieces out of a slew of personal work (business-wise is great though, which is certainly something). Six months of a dry spell. Six frigging months. I keep looking at the various projects I have and noting is happening. I can ( Read more... )

For me, it's all based on scheduling.

If I'm alone, and have time set aside to accomplish one specific thing, it usually gets done. If I try to "fit it in," whatever I had planned in my head just never happens.

In your case, I would try spending a good chunk of time in the Muter Museum with a small sketchbook for catching ideas.

I will start working on something that is not hitting me and going well and just keep working at it for a few hours..leave it..and then come back to in in a hour..
This makes me see that it is working out and dose not suck as I might have felt it did when I was pushing my self to work on it.
My best time to work on things that makes life odd is from like midnight to 7 am..I have no clue why but thats when I get all set to work and do some of the best of it..
Try a week of getting a great deal of sleep..or as little as you can get by on..some times that helps..

and I have been dieing to see the photos taken in August so I hope you get out of the slump soon dew to the factor of once you get the photos done I can post them all over the place and make you more famous and stuff or at lest get you people to pay you to do there site , ect..

i tend to have several different projects going on at any one time. that way, when one starts to fizzle, i can change gears and address something entirely different. also, i tend to switch mediums (from photoshop to microsoft word, frex) when one kind of project starts to get too overwhelming.

in general, though, i'm all about the long-term projects and i've learned not to sweat things if things seem to drop off creatively. your brain has to recharge from time to time and the best way to let it do that is to just be calm and wait. reading books (especially books by authors i really like) also helps.

When I'm in a dancing slump, I go searching for new music and for new music videos on YouTube. Gets the ideas going. The suggestion of going to the Mutter with a sketchbook is a good one. There's also a new weirdly wonderful store in New Hope that sells funeral ephemera, particularly lots and lots of hairwork. It's owned by the guy who does this blog: http://teardropmemories.blogspot.com/ You might find it inspiring.
