My favorite not-easy-to-find band is a Sacramento local band that broke up like twelve years ago: Lawsuit.

Hm. Bands or musicians I love that people may not have heard of: (I can't do just "songs," but I can tell you some bands or albums...)

Eleni Mandell (I like her early stuff best, more poppy, later stuff is more country, though still very good)
Souad Massi (sings in Arabic, her voice is amazing)
Jim White - No Such Place (it's the only album of his I have, so I can't recommend anything else)
Howard Fishman Quartet - I Like You A Lot (again, only album of theirs I have - blues)

I haven't shopped for new music in so long, I'm sure anything else I have is old hat. (Except for that exceptional day with the lovely Ms. tragerstreit, when we went to EM.)
