It's definitely better, though my memory of the US is Massachussetts when they passed gay marriage, so I have slightly skewed memories of the US and gay issues. *g* (That said, I remember a demonstration at the State House in Boston where I heard some of the worst things. Eek

no apology needed; I find it interesting. For me the Mass. law is nice, though they have ruled that it isn't valid for people who aren't residents, which sucks. Unfortunately the states that do allow civil unions are far, far outnmubered by those who have specifically outlawed them. :(
That 1913 piece of legislation that the governor almost pulled out of his pants is ridiculous. I do have to wonder if for the moment it isn't best though, in the sens that maybe it makes the other states less "afraid" of the influence Mass. might have over them and so maybe they won't feel that the Marriage Amendment to the constituion is necessary. Last time I heard, Mass. had decided it was fine to marry non-residents who came from states who hadn't specifically passed anti-gay-marriage legislation? But anyway, the number of those is shrinking every day... -_

Just because it's short and doesn't deal with the issues/arguments concerning parenting and same-sex couples, or even with all the debates that went on in Belgium. It's not a big problem at all. :)
Oh, it's cool - I wouldn't actually expect to find a comprehensive article, especially just a few hours after the decision was announced. I just wanted to warn my friendslist that it was not a thorough article. I think that article was already much better than the other ones I came across, because you gave opinions of those for and against that law, and some of the points made were really interesting - which is why I linked to it in the first place. *g*
How did you end up on my journal? I find it surprising :)
