Awww! So cute! Is it rather young? Very rarely we've had young bears around, but rarely older ones (the young ones are all, "Hey! I'm having a little adventure!"; the older ones clearly stay home and grumble about "Kids these days.")
What about a dog? Dogs help keep them away. Plus, dogs are fluffy and cute.
I think it is young, it's much smaller than the one I've seen in years past. Also, there's the fact that it didn't seem to care at all about noisy humans and seemed to want to make our yard into the new hip bear hangout spot.
The cat would be very unhappy about a dog, more unhappy than he was about the bear probably. He ran to the window when I went to look, growled and then ran down into the basement when he realized there was omg HUGE animal hanging around in the yard. He's still hiding silly thing. Maybe a slingshot.
Actually it was his idea. But yeah, they wouldn't last very long, I think. I'll have to come up with a less fun to play with bear-deterrent.
But the birds are mad at me now. They keep sitting on the bent over bird feeder free pole looking all indignant and confused-like. Also, there are tooth marks on the feeder.
oh man. that would totally freak me out. your yard is a crazy place. always exciting, with the wildlife. you need to get you some batteries! close-up bear photos would be awesome....

yes, but you'd have to put them in a T-proof box so he couldn't set them off when he was bored. :)

OMG. Be careful. (Aside from the danger, that is majorly cool. A bear that near you? Wow.)
