Poll So my father and his girlfriend are getting married in February...

I think my mom still wants to give said girlfriend a punch in the face. Which she doesn't deserve, but I do appreciate where poor Mom is coming from.

So I decided that 2008 was the year of running in place for me. Or maybe treading water. I hung in there, it wasn't as awful as it could have been, and I think I was actually rewarded for sticking it out. I kind of cried a little at the end, I admit it.

(I didn't get as upset as I did when I drove past the Yes on 8 rally Downtown, but that's another story. It's going to be a close call on that one--California readers, vote for equality!!)

I'm amused at how the moral of "Mad Men" seems to be that men are pathetic. The women have some pretty big issues too, but it's really just stunning how emotionally malformed, self-absorbed and juvenile all the men on the show are, each in their own, special, pathetic way.
