“It’s soooo cold!” Ueda whined and rubbed his arms.
“You should have known that… Why do you just wear that… dress?” Nakamaru asked and looked at him while untying his scarf.

“It’s not a dress, it’s a pullover, Yuichi!” The one with the short blonde hair gave him an upset look and turned away then, to show Nakamaru that he wouldn’t discuss that any further.

The brunette frowned and ignored it.

The others got all rid of their coats and jackets and then they left the entrance hall to the big studio.

They had some rehearsal for their next appearance in Shonen Club that evening and none of them was really in the mood for it, since it was Christmas Eve and every one of them wanted to be somewhere else.

“Are you having a date after this, Tat-chan? Or why did you dress up like that?” Koki asked while stretching himself out on the sofa that was placed in a corner of the big room.

“It’s Christmas, of course I have a date.” Ueda said with an arrogant voice.

“Of course.” Nakamaru repeated.

“You’re just jealous because you don’t have a date.”

“I think you are the only one of us who has time for a date tonight.” The older one answered and as it remained silent he lifted his head and looked at the others. “Isn’t he?”

Koki grinned and shook his head. “I’ll go on a date as well.”

Taguchi was busy with his cell phone and just gave him a quick look. “I’m going to meet my girlfriend.”

“You have a girlfriend?” Nakamaru asked completely surprised.

Kazuya laughed at the situation and Nakamaru’s confused expression.

“What about you?”, he wanted to know from Kazuya then.

The younger one smiled shyly and lowered his head, nodding slightly. “I have a date as well.”

“So I am really the only one?!”

“You see, you are the only one who doesn’t have time- for whatever reason.” Ueda said with a smile that could have counted as evil.

Nakamaru pouted and then gave Jin a look. “And you?”

Jin who had been sitting at a chair not really paying attention to the others turned his head to him and asked: “What me?”

“Are you going to have a date as well?”

Ueda laughed. “Yuichi, it’s Jin. Of course he’s going to have a date.”

“A date?” Jin asked and looked slightly confused. Kazuya had told him some weeks ago that he was going to have a date tonight. It made him feel a little weird; for some odd reason he had thought they could probably be together on Christmas Eve.

Since that day in November when they’ve been to the wedding party he wanted to tell Kazuya what he felt, but somehow he never got into the right situation to do so. The younger one’s behaviour had encouraged him that evening; it had felt like Kazuya had some feelings for Jin as well.

But something had changed. Kazuya was somehow different from before. And then he had told Jin that he was going to have a date and all his hopes had died.

The blonde had probably just imagined that there was something more between them.

And after all, Christmas Eve was for couples, for lovers. There was no way he could spend that evening with Kazuya.

“Of course I have a date.” He lied and pretended to be not much excited about it.

“Really?” Kazuya asked and looked over to him. “You didn’t tell me before.”

“There’s no reason why I should have, is there?”

The brunette shook his head and smiled. “No, of course not, I just thought…”

“Aaaahaaa!” Koki giggled and came over to give Kazuya’s hair a rub. “Are you jealous? Do you want to be Jin’s date?”

Kazuya blushed and quickly glanced at Jin, but the older one didn’t even pay attention to them. “What are you talking about?”

“You didn’t tell me before!” Koki copied Kazuya’s voice and giggled even more.

The rest of them laughed with Koki and Kazuya tried to defend himself, but no one listened.

“Don’t even try. Best is you’d ignore them.”

“But…”

“They’re not even serious about it, so why beat up yourself over it?”

Kazuya looked over to the other four who were already talking about something else. He turned back to the blonde.

He looked at him and wondered why Jin had lied to him. Hadn’t he said he didn’t have a girl that he was interested in?

“So… who..?”

“Hm?” Jin looked at him and tilted his head to the side, looking strangely at Kazuya. “What?”

“You said…” The brunette started, but then stopped again. “Forget it.” It wasn’t his business who Jin was going to meet later this evening. If he had a girl then Kazuya should be glad for him.

After all he was going to meet a girl as well. There was no reason, no right for him to feel so jealous and hurt, just because Jin had a date.

“The girl?” Jin asked, obviously looking through the brunette. “It’s none of your business.”

Kazuya just glared at him and stood up then, leaving the room to the studio.

Jin sighed and watched the spot the younger one had just disappeared from.

Somehow everything he did was just wrong lately. He didn’t manage to get through to Kazuya as he used to.

And it made him feel worse.

It was much later than expected and all of them hurried to get out of the studio.

The only one who took his time was Jin, even Nakamaru who hadn’t planned something hurried to walk Ueda to where he would meet his date. What made Ueda not very happy, because he didn’t want Nakamaru to come with him. But the brunette insisted to go, just to make sure Ueda would get safety to that place.

As they were all gone, Jin sighed and watched the door closing behind Kazuya who had left last.

They hadn’t talked for the whole evening and Jin didn’t know how to fix what was wrong between them.

He wished Kazuya to be still able to watch right through him, but somehow the younger one didn’t look at him anymore like he used to look at him.

He had made Kazuya lose his faith in him and the blonde didn’t know how to get it back.

Slowly he left the studio as well and bowed lightly as he passed by one of the assistants. “Otsukaresama.”, he mumbled and left then. The snow had melted already and it was more wet outside than cold.

Jin didn’t really know what to do. He could go home, but he really wasn’t in the mood to be all alone in his apartment now. So he decided to go somewhere and waste his time with shopping or just wandering around. He’d probably eat out today.

But after a while it started to rain and he didn’t have an umbrella with him, so it didn’t take long until he got soaked and he changed his mind. The restaurant he wanted to go to was still a ten minutes walk away.

Jin noticed how empty the big place suddenly was. Everyone had retreated into the shops and buildings.

There was a huge Christmas tree and some benches around it. Even though it was raining it was shining brightly and Jin stood still for a while staring up at it.

It was a beautiful view after all and now that he thought about it he realized that it was really a pity he had to spend the evening all alone.

With a sigh the blonde shook his head and water was dropping from his hair. He was cold now and just wanted to go home and warm up again, but as he wanted to turn away, he noticed a familiar image.

One person was sitting at one of the benches and Jin knew that umbrella that person was holding. He himself had bought that umbrella with those little turtle patterns.

Frowning he looked at his watch and noticed that it had already been more than an hour that they had left the studio. But he could just see the umbrella, so probably they were sitting together there?

Unable to resist his curiosity Jin got closer and tried to see them. He really wanted to know what the girl Kazuya was dating looked like. But as he got close enough he noticed that the brunette sat there all alone.

The older male lost his tension and walked over to the bench to stand beside Kazuya.

“It’s the most beautiful tree in the whole city, don’t you think?”

Surprised Kazuya lifted his head and turned to him with big eyes. “Jin…”

Jin answered it with a cold look. “Don’t tell me you got dumped.”

“She didn’t show up so far.”

“So you’ve been sitting here waiting all the time?”

The brunette nodded.

“She won’t show up anymore.” Jin just said and ran his hand trough his wet hair. “You’re so stupid to sit here and wait like a dog.”

“Perhaps something held her back and she’s just on her way.”

Jin knew Kazuya always believed in the good of other people. He never saw their bad habits; he always understood other people’s mistakes. But that was one of the brunette’s characteristics that Jin liked so much about him. He knew that was the reason why Kazuya was so patient with him; that was why Kazuya was the only one who could get through to him.

“You know…” Jin said. “Over there is a coffee shop, why don’t we just go there and take a seat at the window?”

“I don’t want to leave; she’d be disappointed when I’m not here when she arrives.” Kazuya said, looking at the Christmas tree.

The blonde nodded. “I know, but from the window you can perfectly see this place, so you’d be here in a second as soon as you see her coming here.”

For a moment Kazuya fought with himself, thinking about Jin’s idea.

“I’ll wait with you and treat you a coffee, okay?”

Kazuya looked up to him now and noticed that he was all soaked, so he got up and held the umbrella over the two of them. He sighed and with a look into Jin’s eyes he nodded.

At least he could spend some time with Jin, so it was worth it. And Jin was right; it was better than to sit here in the cold rain.

In silence they walked over to the shop and suddenly Kazuya stopped, what made Jin turn to him.

“What’s up?”

“What happened to your date?”

Jin turned around again and went on. “I didn’t like to anymore, so I didn’t go.”

“Did you at least write her a message?”

Jin laughed and held the door for Kazuya. “Not everyone is as stupid as you are and waits the whole night. I bet she waited for ten minutes and then left to meet up with someone else.”

Kazuya pouted as they sat down. “I’m not stupid, I’m just not…”

“… Like everyone else, yeah.” Jin finished the sentence for him. “You’re too good for this world, Kame.”

The younger one smiled and watched the big place outside, where the Christmas tree was brightening up the scenery. The rain drops seemed to glitter from the lights.

They both ordered something warm to drink and watched the tree without saying anything.

“Ne, Jin…” Kazuya said after a while and turned his head to him.

The older one raised his gaze to Kazuya’s eyes. “Hm?”

“It would be a shame to spend Christmas Eve all alone, don’t you think?”

Jin smiled at him, but didn’t say anything.

It was enough to spend that Christmas Eve together with hot chocolate and tea and to talk until late in the night.

They had no important topics at all, but it didn’t matter. As long as their hearts were filled with the other one’s voice; as long as they were just together.
