[She can't breathe. That's the reason she's forced to communicate through text because she can't breathe and her hands are shaking and she wants to cry. She's lost two in as many days and it isn't fair because she thought things were finally perfect here. But how could she let herself forget that the City can lie to them better than anyone might think?]

What would you do if I went looking for you? Hex me? I'd like to see you try.

And you get to go home and see him again.

[He knows he's being a twat. He's had enough practice with it. He just can't deal with any sympathy, and it's easier for everyone to be mad at him. He's more used to it.]

Any places that won't object to me not coming out for a few days.

[He's mostly kidding.]

[It takes Lily a little while and a bit of thinking to figure out where George might have gone. She tries a couple of different places before deciding on the shop. She doesn't say anything when she apparates inside of it but pokes between the aisles a bit, behind the register and then goes back to the back room.

By now he probably knows she's here. She didn't try to go for stealth. She steps inside, still doesn't say anything as she moves to sit next to him.]

[He's stretched out on the sofa, a half-empty bottle of whiskey on the table next to him. He's not his usual flash self, instead is dressed in an old jumper and a ratty pair of jeans. He doesn't say anything when she comes in, just moves his legs over to let her sit down.]

[It's a long time before she says anything at all and when she does, it's quiet and serious.]

I know I'm not him and I don't expect to be but you're not alone.

Of course I'm alone.

[He's doing everything in his power to hold back a sniff, and runs his hand over his face. There may be other people around, but without Fred he'll always be utterly alone.]

He didn't even say goodbye. I just woke up and he was gone.

[ It's not fair. It's not fair, and she should be thinking about the others, too, but she's not because right now, they don't matter as much. ]

I'm so, so sorry.

[ But it's not enough, never will be, and she doesn't know what she can do via text... so she calls off work and goes out looking for him. Her hands are shaking, and she should be trying to quit but she ignores that fact in favor of lighting a cigarette, trying to occupy her hands and calm herself down before she runs into him.

The fact that she might not run into him at all is thought about and them ignored. She'll find him. She has to. ]

[He's holed out in a dingy booth in one of the seedier bars in The City. Something that will be open a noon at any rate. His emergency stash at the shop ran out.]

[ Seedy as it is, they don't ask her to put out her cigarette when she enters, but she does it anyway once she's realized she's in the right place. Ariadne finds him and slides into the booth, though she doesn't say anything. ]

[He reckoned it was only time before she found him. Ariadne has a persistence he hasn't seen in many people. He glances at her for only a moment when she slides into the booth, before looking back down at his drink. He takes a long drag.]

If my sister sent you, I'm not coming home yet.
