Nov 03, 2018 17:17

Ficx Paris 2018.

Great Persons in the World of Knives.

As you know Francesco Pachi and me introduce our new project about Great Persons in the World of Knives.
The name of Francesco Pachi is well known for knife masters and not only for them.
A talented man is talented in any craft, so Francesco is known not only with his knife masterpieces highly appreciated by collectors: for a long time he was the head of, probably, one of the most famous knife Guilds in the world, the Italian Knife Guild.
Besides, he makes amazing photographs appreciated by collectors not less than his knives.
Currently he his occupied with photography only. But still the knife world, be these real knives, photographs, exhibitions, books, or anything else, here are his world and his life.

One publication by me - one photo by Francesco - one famous knife maker.

Corrado Moro.

" I was born in Turin in 1972 and at the age of 14 I attended professional school in the field of precision engineering, achieving various specializations in mechanical processing. Soon after the school I began to work as a toolmaker, specializing in construction, installation and EDM machining.
I have been employed in the same company for 23 years.Aside the daily job, the experience accumulated over the years has led me to build a shop to develop other projects, improving and learning new technics. In 2007, introduced to me by mutual friends, met the master knife maker Charlie Bennica, with whom I formed a strong friendship and began an exchange of ideas and thoughts that continues today. In these years he taught me a lot and, thanks to its great experience, decided to enter the world of artistic knife. In 2012, after a local knife show in Bologna I have been invited at the ECCKS of New York.

Immediately after returning to Italy I quit my previous job and became a full-time knife maker. The world of collectible knife excites me because I found in it the opportunity to express my imagination in the most pure and unrestrained way, both artistically and in terms of construction work, constantly trying to improve in every field, using all the techniques acquired over the years and studying the latest technology to make progress in every area.I like to innovate and to think outside of the box, breaking the classic schemes, looking for new and different mechanical solutions, learning as much as possible both by the great masters and the new trends. In the same way I try to include in my design some key elements that you can find in the everyday life, as well as in contemporary work of art.I think my knives reflect the work experiences and my greatest passions. When drawing a new knife I give free rein to my imagination, worrying as little as possible as I can make it happen, drawing inspiration from everything around me, both by nature and its colors, shapes of animals, the tense lines of aircrafts and racing machines, without forgetting of watches and jewelry, not to mention the best works of past and present knifemakers, and of course the most famous AKI members.Stepping into the making phase, instead I try to be as close as possible to the project I have in mind, contriving any system that allows me to build it exactly the way I imagined, without taking shortcuts.
Since I dedicate myself totally to the realization of the knives I feel satisfied and professionally fulfilled. In just a few years I have visited countries where I have never been before, made new friends and discovered new passions. I just started, but already feel to have found my way and now I am looking forward to see what would come after the next bend..."
