I miss Petronilla! I am glad for the time I had with her but there's now a great big Petronilla-shaped hole in my chest and I don't know what to do about it. Perhaps I shouldn't have brought that up because you probably have one too. But on the other hand perhaps it's good because you know know you're not the only one who has one. I can't tell. I am very new at most emotions!

I miss her, too. I thought that I would be happy for her to go, but I'm not. I'm actually very sad about it.

It's a terrible thing when a woman who looks the way you do sees fault with herself. A terrible thing indeed, all that's been sacrificed to the force that'd have you think that way.

There are a lot of things to see fault with in all women. But as long as I see more good things than faults, I know that I'm alright. And I am seeing that today, so it's a good day.

Oh, I quite agree. Sharp tongues, icy snatches and wayward hearts are common flaws, but since I can not, at present, identify those with a glance? To me, you look quite flawless, m'dear.

Perhaps you do, but in that same vein, I daresay there's something pleasurable in sitting in an expensive car with the engine running and the hand break on. It's still only really worth the money if you go somewhere.

I also recommend the drink. I wouldn't normally, but Miss Parker insisted after Mr. Spinola disappeared, and it really did help.

I do drink. But I like to drink when I'm happy, too. I've just been drinking to make me feel better lately and I'm not sure that's a good thing.
