[She starts at the head of the bed, runs across the blankets, and leaps onto the floor. That way, the monster can't get her. She flings open the door and stares up at the man, her eyes going wide.]

Hello, Comrade. [She's trying not to breathe hard.]

[She lowered her voice a bit, following him without thinking about it, the communicator still in her hand.] I think I talked to some of the bad people already. There isn't anyone from home.

[She nodded, happily following along beside him.] One of them. He talked like me. But...he said that some of the capitalists are good and some communists are bad.

That means he's not from home, right?

[She kept rattling on, nodding to his questions. She knew. She knew from her countless lessons.] And then there's a boy. He said lots and lots of bad things. I think he might go to prison.

Lies. He said um...that our government doesn't give us freedom. And that...um...we are taking over places. [She looked up at him for a minute and then, unable to keep his gaze, looked away.]
