My professor gave me 70% on a paper worth 35%. She made two corrections on my whole paper, one of them being her circling the words "a lot" as a spelling error. I learned in elementary school that "a lot" (as in very much, large amounts, etc.) is NOT ONE WORD. There is the word "allot" as in "she completed it in the allotted time slot". ( Read more... )

Ummm "a lot" IS the correct way to spell it.

Yeah sure good luck with that. I'm sure there's *wink* something else *nudge* that she didn't like *poke* that she just neglected to mark off.

Yeah, my english teacher circled "a lot" too... I think professors just give whatever marks they feel like giving. Its gay.
But, it really doesnt matter what marks you get, as long as you pass... and as long as you get your degree

I'm trying to keep my scholarships though, they are only renewable if I maintain a certain average :(
