It's a big thing.  A thesis.  I have to write one, and it has to be written pretty soon.  Outlines, plans, words, many words.  It is that time when a PhD candidate steps up, makes their work their own, and takes their place in the field.  A rite of passage

I think it's awesome you like what you're doing! If you're staying in the lab longer than normal because you want to be there, not because you have to be there I consider that a good thing. :)
