Bored

I am so bored lately :/ I can't hang out with friends because they live so far away and I can't get to where they are easily. I have art homework which I'm not really sure what to do. I have English Language coursework that HAS to be done before I go back to college, and our fill in teacher explained the instructions so shockingly bad I thought I ( Read more... )

You're not an underachiever! So what if you don't know what to do in the future? No one does! You're too worried about the future! If you're so caught up about what will happen, how are you going to concentrate on what is happening? Just relax and take things slowly and don't run such a long distance in one go! Start slowly and build it up! You'll be right as rain then! Also, art can become your career if you work on it! Just do what your heart is set in and everything else will fall into place! If you get a life-long career in something you hate, you may have money, but you'll always wish you had followed your heart. Maybe if you follow art, you'll have less income, but you'll be happier because you're doing what you love! Don't let that go!

I don't see myself doing anything in the future though, that's the problem. I'm gonna end up working a shopping mall stacking shelves all my life or summin. I don't even know what I'm gonna do involving art. It's not gonna get me anywhere and I'm crap at everything else

To be honest, you should be thankful that you don't worry about it. I don't see myself doing anything myself, but that's the surprise! But you'll have to stop thinking so negatively. Aim high and you can at least get half of what you want. Do what you're interested in and if it turns into your career, you'll have the best luck in the world! Work on your art. Make it better than it is!

I rarely say this rant to anyone but myself, but I think its such a special occasion you can hear it too;

Dude, my 49 year old mum still has no idea what she wants to do. She has 4 university degrees, in totally unconnected things, and wants to go back for another. Its never too late to try something new. Don't limit your horizons.

My advice is this: do what you want. Seriously, its what I've learned from this year. Screw everyone else, do what you like doing, do what you find fun, and the work will follow on.

Also; aim for time, not distance when your starting out running. Aim to run, say, 30 mins at your pace. Measure it differently, it'll really help. You only need to measure distance if you're training for a race.

You're probably at the most stressful time of life. There's so much pressure on young people to get jobs and work hard and be perfect and go to uni. You're not an underachiever Gracie because you care. People who underachieve purposely don't do anything and don't give a shit that they don't. Just do what you think you have to on the English coursework, and if you don't have a clue make it up, it's better than nothing. The likelihood is no one else knew what to do either, same with the art ( ... )
