They go in threes

Apr 02, 2005 18:39

Wow, kinda weird that the Pope died today. First Terri and now him. Not to be morbid, but I wonder who the third person will be. I feel the same way I felt after Princess Diana and Mother Teresa died - I guess it's just cause all four of them were very high-profile, and the sudden loss of them leaves a weird void. Makes me wonder, too where the ( Read more... )

where is he now? anonymous April 5 2005, 05:32:49 UTC
what the fuck kind of question is that! are you seriously so wrapped up in your own little bubble of christian sunshine that you honestly think that the pope may not have been a christian? whatever doctrine or theology you study must have been thrown up on by someone because you are obviously missing a huge part. you know, maybe you and the rest of the bcm can go and try to witness to the new pope with the evangecube. im so sick of all you high and mighty baptists who are so absolutely dense and cant see the message of salvation in catholicism and the millions of devoted catholics who understand the teachings of Jesus better than you!

an apology anonymous April 9 2005, 17:17:19 UTC
Grace. let me start by saying that what I wrote before was not meant as a personal attack on you. It was a response to an attitude which I see more and more around us that I see is very unChristlike. I chose to respond out of an emotion and to be really honest for the reaction, from you and from others. What I said, is how my heart feels, but how I said it was wrong and so i am sorry.

As we who are in Christ should, we accept your apology openly, without harsh words or snide attitudes. Im sure Grace is no exception. It would be nice to know who you are, though. Not for purposes of exclusion or judgement(as im not really involved in the bcm anymore anyhow), but so that we can go further in our personal discourse. If you profess Christ, i want to know you ( ... )

Ok, first of all, I know PLENTY, and let me emphasize that again PLENTY, of people who are practicing Catholics that are Christians. And Church of God. And Pentacostal. And Methodist. And so on. I'm not saying anything even related to the fact that "only Baptists can be Christians." I grew up being taught that by my church and school (not my home, mind you), and I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THAT!!!! Second, whoever you are, why didn't you email me or something to discuss this rather that blast all over LJ? Obviously you don't know me very well, because if you did, you would know that I was not coming from a "he's Catholic so he can't be saved" train of thought. I'm a little distraught that you think that I am that close-minded. I was simply thinking the same thing I think whenever anyone dies that I do not know well, personally or otherwise. I thought that about Princess Diana, Terri Schiavo, everyone at the Twin Towers, and when President Bush (who is a professing Christian, by the way) dies - God forbid anytime soon - I'll ( ... )

You know, a lot of people have been saying that I'm paranoid lately. Dunno, sometimes I overthink and overanalyze, which tends to make me jumpy, which is often seen as paranoid. ;)

Apparently Jesus sends them out of this world in pairs...that's how he usually sent them out.

The pope was cool, but he was veery, very old. The reality is that no one is immortal. No one. Don't go all "but our souls are immortal", you know what I'm talking about. Yes, it's unfortunate that Christianity lost a valuable leader, but like Mother Teresa, he was very, very old, and it was clearly his time ( ... )

It's past the age that people normally live to, the normal life expectancy, which is 76. But you must also consider his having Parkinson's Disease. Well, I should have, anyway.
