Cross country
The cross country phase of eventing is simple - horses run a jump course. There’s an optimum time, and riders are penalized for exceeding it, but there’s no benefit to coming in under the time. Where we stand
At the end of the second day of dressage, Michael Jung was in fifth, with William Fox-Pitt still holding the lead. Cross country day tends to shake up the leader board. Dressage, day 1
Earlier this week, Deadspin ranked Individual Dressage 306th most exciting out of 306 Olympic Sports, after the Men’s 50km Walk. I can’t argue with that - dressage is a lot more exciting to do than to watch. The test for this competition is the Eventing Four Star Dressage Test B - Short Version. It's the Olympics!
I’ve been itching to write about the Olympics for WEEKS. I love opening ceremonies, and Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir’s outfits, and the relentless optimism of Olympic coverage! They start tomorrow! Not much of a con report
Boskone had never been on my schedule for yesterday - J and Hanna went and Hattie and I did violin class, grocery shopping, and cupcakes. But I went to bed last night hoping I could get in there today. And I can't. There's no way. I knew this would probably happen, but I'm sad about it anyway. Friday night was awesome! -

I made cookies. I think that might have been partly about proving that I just have a cold, and not pneumonia. When I had pneumonia, cookie-making was a bridge too far. Anyway, the cookies are made, and they are tasty. -
