(
Oh Lauren, what have you gotten yourself into this time? )
She looked up with a lopsided smile, then made a grabby hand before patting the couch next to her; it had been far too long since she and Lauren had giggled and talked about nothing in particular, and the distraction from work was more than welcome ( ... )

It obviously couldn't end well. Hell, it couldn't even really start, so that meant it was doomed before it had a chance to begin and end! Definitely not good.
"Honey," Andra said softly, shaking her head as she leaned a little closer; it felt like they shouldn't have even been talking about it in the open. Like it wasn't right -- when they were twelve and 'in love' with a professor, that was okay. They were young and silly and nothing could come of it. But... well, they were older now. Young women. Legal. And that made it some sort of uncomfortable taboo.
"Maybe it's because he's forbidden fruit," she offered, nodding slowly. "One of those things where you want what you can't have?" She hoped that was the case, because if Lauren was digging on Professor York for any reason besides a really ( ... )

"I know!!" She pouted and moaned, collapsing onto the other girl as she leaned against her, "I know, and you're probably one hundred percent right. I don't know why I'm doing this to myself. It's horrible. And it's only been... well, today wasn't the first time we've interacted more than just in class, but it's utterly foolish of me!"
Why had he made such an impact on her? Seriously! It had been that morning! She'd seen the guy every week(minus the holidays, obviously) for the last six years, going on seven... and it was only now that she was feeling this way? Of course she had found him all too charming and attractive before, but with the one-on-one time they'd been having, it was difficult for her to dismiss how appealing he was ( ... )

And then the best friend brought up the other half...
"That's just it!!" She flailed again, her hands flying through the air as she turned herself fully around to face the other girl, her voice coming down a few notches as she finally realized where exactly they were. The last thing she needed was for others to over hear this conversation. "I don't know what he's thinking! He's... he's very confusing, Andra. Very, very confusing. He's got the whole shy thing going, right? And then... out of no where he's all flirty and charming and funny and amazing! But then, like... I'll say something in reply to a flirty comment? Then ( ... )

What Lauren said made Andra bite her own lip lightly, frowning as she brought a hand up to rest against her cheek. This was by no means Andra's area of expertise -- flirting and socializing with the menfolk, that was all Lauren. But the way people acted in general, she could deal with that. She could figure something out and be helpful to her friend ( ... )

Andra shook her head while patting Lauren's hand gently. "No thanks necessary," she replied, firmly setting her jaw in a stubborn fashion. "That's what friends are for, right? Sneaking out to eat food at two a.m., distracting from homework, witnessing freak outs... it's all part of the code or something."
She smiled warmly, then wriggled her toes down into the space between their two cushions. "But..."
Well, Lauren had said she wouldn't think about it anymore. And Andra had encouraged that course of action... But there were a couple of things she just had to say or else she'd positively explode.
"Okay so, say he wasn't playing games and he was just trying to keep himself at a distance, right? What would you do? I mean, it's not right -- I'm definitely not condoning anything that could get you or him into big trouble, but... just... let's pretend we're twelve again and can fantasize about whatever we want without consequences, okay? What ifShe had to know; it would ( ... )

OKAY!! SHE COULD TOTALLY DO THAT!
As she would possibly take any excuse to fantasize about her and the Professor before she had to push it into the far corners of her mind. Yes, this might even help her. To just get it all out there. That, or it could make it worse... only time would tell!
"Heee!" She squeed, pulling her legs up and crossing them underneath her as she perhaps got a little too giddy, "Oh man. Where do I even start?!" Seriously. Sometimes? The two were way too girly. "Obviously we've have that scandalous, secret love affair." She used her arms to emphasis as she flourished them through the air. "Okay, okay. I'm joking. Kind of."
Now she took some time to think, as she hadn't dared to imagine the possibilities before this. "Honestly, I'm not sure Andra. It would be weird, right? But... as bad as it is to say, if he didn't distance himself, I'd have a hard time stopping myself from kissing him..."

Besides, what better way to keep one's mind from being all emo and thinking too much in a serious way than to just let it out in a silly fantasy-spilling session? Right!
"That should not sound as hot as it does," she replied, grinning wide at the flourished 'secret love affair' part. "I mean, right? It should sound gross and it should make me wag my finger at you but all I can do is grin like an idiot." She shook her head with a short laugh, then suppressed her silliness for a moment to listen more ( ... )

She giggled insanely, possibly throwing in a snort or two, when Andra said how hot the secret affair would be. First of all, she was laughing because it WOULD be hot, and she was agreeing. Second of all -- had Andra just said something was hot?? THAT was kind of priceless and a golden token that she would be taking away with her from this conversation.
"It's one of those things that's only in a novel or a movie," Lauren agreed, wondering how they couldn't think it was gross and wrong on so many levels. It was that forbidden hotness that drew you in.
But what was gross? Was imagining herself walking around holding the professor's hand and being cute. That was WEIRD and perhaps put the whole situation into more perspective. For some reason it was easier for her to imagine herself being thrown against ( ... )

Once she'd come down from the momentary laugh-high and wiped at her cheeks, she let out a sigh and shook her head. "I don't know, I think you're right. It's probably one of those things that are better left as fantasy, you know? Like, if it ever came true, it would probably be disappointing?"
How come she'd heard that piece of advice before, but had never known anyone personally to have some sort of fantasy come true and it not meet their expectations? This was so wrong. It was probably lame advice that people just gave in general to make others feel better about not taking action about something. Ugh ( ... )

Lauren nodded, because what else was she supposed to do? Going along with whatever Andra told her at this point was probably the wisest thing for her. Andra was a smart girl, even if she wasn't as experienced in matters having to do with the opposite sex. Above anything else, Lauren trusted her friends judgment.
So if she said that it would probably be better as a fantasy? She'd believe her and simply find a way to move on with her life, rather than day dreaming about said fantasy until it drove her mad.
Now it was Lauren's turn to jump back as her friend flailed and bounced and god knows what else! She laughed, completely shocked by the reaction she got from a simple comment that she hadn't even been thinking too much about in the first place! She'd almost been talking to herself at that point, so she was completely caught off guard with the other one's response.
"I-- it-- It's not quality time," She corrected, still laughing at her friend, "I'm just helping him organize the ( ... )

"Wrong!!" Andra replied, expression completely deadpanned as she held up a hand with all five fingers extended as she counted down a whole list of reasons for their filing-flirting sessions to not be 'just work.'
"Who needs help filing?" she asked, making point number one. "Furthermore, if one does really need the help, there are about a hundred people to ask. Why you? Why not some annoying guy in his own house -- brute strength, closer to the area of work, and no risk for people to assume there's something improper happening."
She actually counted that whole point as three, but whatever. Down to two fingers.
"Why, if he's distancing himself due to the fact that he doesn't feel that way about you, would he continue to put himself in your presence?? And lastly ( ... )

Possibly all the way to the floor, but that could be a bit of an understatement. Honestly, though? It wasn't too far from the truth because what Andra was stating was MADE OF INSANITY and Lauren could not believe that ANDRA was the one POINTING ALL THIS OUT.
"Why me? Because... I was there when he thought of it?" Wow. Way to have a lame excuse. She knew that would never fly in the argument, so she just stayed silent for another moment, listening to what was being said. Actually, she opened her mouth to protest further, but shut it... as she was fairly certain that whatever came out of her mouth would fail to extreme levels.
Oh bollocks. As she listened to the rest of what Andra spoke about, Lauren facepalmed. A facepalm of epic proportions, as it actually hurt her because she smacked her head so hard.
"You're right! How could I not see that before?? It is quality time! OHMYGOSHANDRAWHATAMIGONNADO?!? HEELLLLLLLLPP!!" Spaz, flail, and a squee all in one. It would have been impressive if it hadn't ( ... )
