I like to smoke and drink...a lot. Yeah, of course I know it's not good for me, but that's what freedom is all about...right? I have the freedom to make a few bad choices. I have freedom of religion. I have the freedom to protect my family and my property from people that might want to steal it from me, with deadly force if necessary. Thus the ( Read more... )

They know we're not going to stop. That's why they keep raising the taxes! Smokers are an easy target.

FYI, just say this on a tobacco site:

On 2/5/09 the President signed in to law the SCHIP bill which will go into effect on April 1st, 2009. This will have a dramatic effect on the prices of RYO tobacco and Accessories.

In a nut shell we are looking at a price increase, due to Federal Taxes, of $23.68 per pound of RYO Tobacco. A bag of Gambler Tobacco, for example, that currently costs $15.96 would now cost $39.64. You have until April 1st, 2009 to enjoy the current pricing. Because this is a federal tax it will affect every retailer nationwide.

Due to this taxation we have to make a small, temporary, change to the amount of inventory we currently handle and we would like to ask for your patience if orders are delayed more than 2-3 days while we sort all this out.

We thank you for your continued patronage and we will forward on information as it becomes available.

I think I might, but it's just delaying the inevitable. I can see a little increase, but more than double!!! That's bullshit!

I will preamble my next phrase with, you know me, you know that I think if you want to do it, just go right ahead.

and then there is the smartass part of me that giggles when I hear smokers complain about smoking because it sounds like people refusing to leave a sinking ship but complaining about the increasing "humidity" problem. hehe

I agree, it is a sinking ship. Smoking is about to be a thing of the past.
