No, I'm not a (real) developer, so I'd be hard pressed to convince my company to get me a Safari account (aren't they rather expensive?). And yes, I liked Goldratt's book a lot. That is to say, I liked his ideas a lot, whereas the book itself was just interesting enough to keep me reading. I think his system-level approach has applications in a variety of fields beyond industrial engineering (such as the real-time dsp systems with which my company works).
