She touches the bare skin of her head, feeling lightheaded, and then she tugs on the wig. This is what happens when you go undercover, she thinks--but she feels like an alien and she can still hear that damn voice, lilting in her head, saying, "Eh, Jambo, did it finally explode?"
The blue sky quickly turned to a menacing shade of gray as Volkner looked out the window of his small apartment. But instead of making him sad, the clouds crackling with lightning brought a small smile to his face.
Showers. Misao doesn't know if she loves them or hates them. They're useful, they're automatically hot water with no effort--at least until the water turns cold--but she doesn't feel as clean as she does when she takes a bath.
She watches the fogged-up mirror clear, watches as the spots fade away from her misty reflection.
"There's a freak among the children at this carnival." Integra had said, "Find it and kill it. We'll handle cleanup."
"Master, a carnival is a crowded place." Alucard had replied, then thinking it was witty.
"Then take the child away from the crowd." she had answered simply.
It had seemed so simple. But then the child screamed, and Alucard couldn't count the number of humans chasing after him. Well, he had just teleported through a wall and grabbed the freak child, but it was still unamusing. He had managed to barely kill the child and calm the parents down, but the police that arrived soon after were very confused, and hassled him further after all of that.
His limbs were numb, as if he had been sitting in ice water for hours. Cold, unmoving, stagnate. Nothingness, all of it nothingness. It was all he could to do stare at the x-ray scans exhibiting his death sentence: brain tumor, occipital lobes. How does one escape death? The unanswerable riddle.
