LOL~~~
I've seen so many Bollywood movies and dramas a long time ago. Back then, the plot was still obvious: (1) family drama, (2) detective/police...where usually the police and the criminal are family-related, and of course (3) love.
But yeah, I've stopped watching them, so all I know is Shah Rukh Khan and the likes XP

I guess you've watch Kuch Kuch Hotta Hai then??

LoL.. your description of the movies are really accurate. But gradually it's getting better with movies like Swades, Taxi 9211, Saawariya, Water,... Yes i've watched KKHH and all the following SRK.. haha.. but as evryone knows him and well knows only him... that's why i want to talk about the other actors as talented.. you know ? ^^
A long time ago ? So don't watch it anymore ?

Yeah, Before...I lived in Indonesia. There are so many Bollywood movies and drama (both in TV station and in the cinema), so it's easy to watch. But now, I have to look for them or download, etc. So I don't watch as much anymore. Only if my friends said there's a good movie (I have lots of Indian friends in my university >.<)

I'm feeling nostalgic after reading this.
I'm the same as you, I grew up watching Hindi movies but never became a fan. I watched it when I was small because MY MUM was a fan, funnily enough. xD Many years ago (ah, the nostalgia!) they aired Hindi movies on TV every Fri and Sat afternoon. My mum would tune in without fail and yeah being the curious kid I was, I just watched it too. I remember yes, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai(very beautiful, and still is!), Kajol, Preeti Mukherjee and a few others...
The points of Hindi movies that make them different from others are the hugely dramatic plots... Deafening gunshots and fighting, and of course the dancing and music. It was fun when I watched it! LOL There's this cliche that Bollywood movies = rolling down hills and hiding behind trees... It's funny but the strange thing is, I don't really see that in the movies. I wonder where that cliche came from...

Ah. So you watched them too when you were a kid ? Ah well my mother wasn't a fan she actually also grew up watching that so it's kind of a family thing/custom.. ^^..
Hmm actually the cliche comes from the old classic black&white indian movies with great actors like Kishore Kumar, Raj Kapoor, etc...At this time yeah during songs the actors hide behind trees etc.. and no kissing scenes.. lool but lots of rainy scenes like now too.. haha... ne, i am thinking of NEWS again.. shh.. this band is obsessing me xD

Raj Kapoor... Is it that old actor with the longish face and grey hair, he always plays a father... I can't remember his name, he always acts as the good father in those family-centric movies. He's quite tall too, and fairer-skinned, I used to think he looks more Caucasian than Indian.
Yes I know, I went two days without NEWS (I didn't have time to check LJ or go over to d-addicts) and today I'm obsessing over them.

Hmmm well i think so.. it's him.. but he is dead (lool that sounds so harsh the way i wrote it...). he used to play that kind of role before but he was one of the most talented actor. Ah right, two days without NEWs ! Have you got all the updates ? Pi's last entry in his j-web about the photoshoot, Toma's Tamegoto entry about Pi, hmm, ah, Koyama's pics about his smoking habit...and i just read about two chinese students report, meeting Pi... ><' (me jealous)
