A couple of months ago I had a tube inserted up my rectum to check why I've been anemic for more than 2 years. That, in addition of a specific analysis have determined that I'm a coeliac. Up to this moment, I didn't have any perception that this could happen. As far as I know, just badgerpdx has the same issue in my friends list. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've noticed the weight loss in the photos I've seen from you lately. You look good.

Here in the US, I've noticed an explosion of gluten-free products in the supermarket shelves, and yes, they are somewhat more expensive, but I'm not sure if they are by the same factor they are in Spain. I tried to get Brian to try some whole-grain products (pasta, breads and brown rice....) but he'll have nothing to do with them. Not that either of us have the Coeliac issues, I'm just trying to be a little healthier and consume less processed carbs.

I guess they are the same. For what I've seen, associations in Spain have played a strong role and more than half of the things you find in the supermarket inform whether they have gluten or not. For instance, there are spaghetti sauces which contain some wheat starch whereas others use just potato starch.

Processed carbs are bad but taste good :) I can't blame him

I have no insight to provide, but I want to offer my moral support. Even if this is a manageable condition, it is reasonable to feel depressed at first. Best wishes on your adaptation to the new diet.

Thank you very much. I know this is not an issue but it makes me sad :)

Thankfully being a coeliac is not a complicated thing as diabetes, which requires medicines... :)

Best of luck with your treatment! They can have my pasta when they pry it from my cold dead hands!

Haha, that's my biggest concern. I loooooooooove wheat products. In fact, last weekend both my bf and I bought awesome italian pasta which was consumed with awesome german wheat beer :(
