She's not used to using spells here and there to aid in her cooking, but since she's cooking so much, she needs a little help ( Read more... )

Outside, all three Apparated to the outside gardens, just inside the gate.

Narcissa was giving a delighted coo at seeing the estate again, and Lucius was nodding approvingly as they walked toward the building. They seemed relaxed for the moment, relieved to see their home restored like it was to something of its former glory.

The relief was very evident, and he gratefully mouthed, 'I love you,' to his wife. Draco ignored the raised eyebrows from his parents, and with his meal finished, pushed himself back from the table.

"Right you are. About time for the cake I think."

Mia thinks for a moment before deciding, 'Oh, why not?' and quietly levitates the cake over with a Wingardium Leviosa. She then hands Draco the knife.

"Will you do the honors?"

His parents applauded politely, and Narcissa got up to give him a peck on the cheek and a 'Happy Birthday.'

Draco beamed, and cut the first slice. He did cheat with the rest of the slices for fairly even ones with magic.

Mia gives Draco a peck on his other cheek while he gets one from his mother. Birthday boy's getting a lot of love today, isn't he?

She breaks off a piece from her slice of cake and offers it to him.

He thinks he totally deserves it, and accepted the slice of cake with a large smile.

She thinks he totally deserves it, too.

He sputtered and then laughed before cleaning himself up with a Scourgify. This action alone left his parents rather speechless and surprised.

Perhaps time for distractions like shiny presents?

Mia laughs with him as he cleans up, but she does whisper, "No fair, I wanted some icing."

"Want to be cleaned up for your presents then, do you? Fine, you can have your presents and eat your cake."

She passes her small box along for him to open, but there's another kiss, this time to his nose.

"Happy birthday, beloved."

He whispered back that they could share some icing later. Somewhere much more private.

Draco then beamed as he took the present, and opened the box. There was some brief staring at the large cuff bracelet with dragon designs, and he then turned to admire how the dragon diamond glinted in the candlelight. The white gold held the perfect sheen.

"Thank you, darling, it's exquisite."

Not to mention the green sapphires making up the dragon's scales or his name engraved on it.

"You're most welcome, Draco," she says, giving him a proper kiss this time.

His parents eyed them, before bestowing their presents on him. Lucius gave him some parchments and history of Wizarding government. Narcissa gave him a new set of dress robes, and a basket of sweets from a Wizarding bakery.

Draco remarked with a smile then after presents and thanks given, "So my wife, any more birthday surprises?"

"I was hoping you would want to dance? It's not really a proper party without dancing, is it?"

Draco nodded, and got up to dance with Mia.

His parents sat a moment longer before finally deciding to get up to show off proper wizard dances.

It's going pretty smoothly, as far as Mia's concerned.

After they've been dancing a little while, she leans over to Draco's ear and goes, "You should have at least one dance with your mother. This day is particularly important to her, I imagine."

He needn't worry. He'll have his wife back soon enough to romantically sweep her to his room.

Draco seemed surprised at that. Then again, it hadn't happened at their wedding.

So he headed over to his mother and father, and bowed to her before offering his arm to his mum, "Mother, may I?"

Narcissa considered before accepting his arm to dance.
