I think that this was the first Thanksgiving Weekend con that I basically saw no music. I heard the last half of the last song of the Not Clams and that was it. Due to a lot of bad sound issues at various panels that I went to (if you are in the room that a panel is going on in, don't visit amongst yourselves ... if you are going to visit loudly, move away from doors at panels), I couldn't face the evening concert. I am looking forward to next year's music, I just hope that next year that there will be lots of times where I have to make a choice OR that the 2-5 things that I want to see/do aren't conflicting.

This was actually the first year in several that the only things I attended were concerts. I wanted to make some of the music panels but I was either feeling lazy or timing didn't work out. Maybe I will steal the ideas for Balticon.

It didn't occur to me until your reply - it's pretty much been Darkover/Chessiecon tradition to leave the doors to the hall open at all times. Many other cons leave them closed. If one is going to leave them open, signs asking folks to be quiet might be useful.

The sound for Not the Clams was truly bizarre. It seemed like a few of the instruments were plugged in, but none of the voices were miked?

Thank you!

I wish I'd had more "catching up with friends" -- although I did get some, particularly the nice relaxed music bit that happened in the dead dog (Lisa, me, Ben, Doragen & Paul, Eileen, a few other people), after I no longer had responsiblities to worry about.

And yeah, having early starts for the Bardics this year, even conflicting with other evening programming, was a deliberate choice (and having official leads to help things get started worked like gangbusters and I intend to repeat the concept). We basically pushed the GOH concert as early as we could while still having it be late enough that dealers could go, so there'd be time on the other end for bardic before the inevitable Halelujah Chorus.

Since I don't do the Time Traveler's Social, I'm fine with the bardic/filk being against it.

I was surprised there wasn't a break in the GOH concert.

*nod* It's only a 1.5 hour concert, not a 2.5 hour concert like the classic Clams concerts, so it doesn't technically need one. Although of course Betsy was on stage for 3.5 hours with an hour break in the middle.

Sorry I missed ChessieCon this year, though I didn't really have much choice. I'm just getting back on LJ (and online in general) -- it's been a very tough last 4 months and I haven't been able to see well enough to be online until recently. I plan to post about it soon.

Glad to hear you're all doing well, even if a bit busier than is comfortable.
