Sorry I missed Boskone, even more sorry I missed the "Fantasy Sea Song" session. I'm assuming that someone must have said "Most of these songs are not "Shanties" and some of them are composed, not traditional." I do hope someone led out the only real shanty I could think of with supernatural content: "Alabama John Cherokee." I had planned to sing that plus "The Dreadful Ghost"; "The Great Selkie"; a version of "James Harris, or The Demon Lover"; "The Mermaid." Also thought of doing "Eddystone Light" (glad you did that one) and "A Capital Ship". Did anyone sing any of these?
Our "stand-in" (I believe his name was Jeff) did "Alabama John Cherokee", and another shanty called "Billy Bones". Edie sang "The Mermaid".
I mentioned the tradition of Selkie songs, including "The Great Selkie", before launching into "Maiden and the Selkie" which I swiped from Heather Dale.
