I'm sorry Brigid. I set the tape for Stargate, and pressed record, but then my parents turned it off. They had another taped program they wanted to watch and couldn't be bothered with moving to the hallway with a television and VCR, but no couch, or waiting until 9pm. So, I'm sorry. I feel bad and I'll get a copy somehow ( Read more... )

I've come to the conclusion that one's relationship with one's parents is invariably improved with increasing age ... and geographical distance ;)

((hugs))

Definitely, definitely get along better with my dad when we don't live together. Unfortunately, we're very much alike, in the stubborness and conviction corners, only we believe different things, so we're constantly fighting.

Plus, I've had the added benefit of him comparing everything I do to how my mom did it. Yesterday's argument was that I didn't drop what I was doing to do something for him and he didn't want to wait 20 minutes for me to do it, so he did it and then didn't talk to me for the rest of the night.

Needless to say, I understand how you feel and anytime you need to vent, you know how to reach me. :) *hugs!*

oh! oh! I recognize that complaint! I've always wanted to tell him to shove it, but mostly I just remember that *he* won't remember this tomorrow and he'll make my life miserable in the mean time, *sigh*.

YOU! NOT TO FEEL BAD.

Hopefully Reb's TiVo will have successfully recorded it in her absence. If not, we can get it elseways. So don't you worry. I will live. And we will watch Firefly, and introduce you to Stargate FROM DA GLORIOUS BEGINNING, and all will be well.

(I'm in a slightly odd mood, can you tell?)

He's never going to be happy with me, so I think I'm just going to do things that I think are right from now on.

YES. YESYES YES. This is the best possible decision to make under the circumstances--and we all have to make it at some point, ya know? You may not stop fighting, but you'll feel better knowing that the strife comes from doing what you know is right instead of trying to conform to something that is wrong for you anyhow.

And other people have/will tell you, it gets much better after spending a significant amount of time AWAY.

one wonders how it works (or worked) in societies where leaving home isn't something to be done until your marry, and even then you rarely go far. of course, marriage was a younger thing, but it could still be up around twenty+. oh gosh, I wonder if teenage rebellion is genetically programmed to get you kicked out of your family and into life.
