Snowmageddon Pt 2: The Downing of an Awning

We have a metal awning over our side porch. Or rather, we used to have an awning there. There was so much ice and snow on it that it was sagging dangerously. So I tried to knock the icicles off of it with a broom handle. Instead, the whole thing came down on top of me. Besides the obvious never stand under anything you are poking at rule, tape a hammer to the end of a broom handle and knock it down from a safe distance.
